Road Trip

by Perry Gray

I wanted to get another issue finished by the end of September so that the schedule was once again on track. Fortunately, I had some material that was useful for editing Lace Warfare to add to this issue. Once it was all in place, then I just had to add the usual features and voila, another newsletter.

Editor and travel companion, Allie, getting ready for a walking tour.

My travel plans have been altered because of the sale of one home and the purchase of a new house, which will not be ready until March. So the route has been reversed so that I can visit Virginia while it is still warm. The change also allows me greater flexibility as now I can travel until February and spend more time sightseeing.

It will also give me more time to develop my video and still photography skills. I want to fiddle with the equipment to enhance the experience of visiting battlefields. No need to be satisfied with the first shots as I can take extras and immediately review the film before sending it to the notebook computer.

So far the itinerary is looking good. I have decided to visit Perryville, Shiloh, Forts Henry and Donelson, Stone’s River, Chickamauga, Chattanooga, Vicksburg, and several sites in Virginia that have not yet been picked.

As usual I am still hoping for input from the readership. I appreciate any mail be it letters or articles.
