1.The first "Fall In" convention seems to have been a success. Attendance reached over one thousand, not counting the dealers, and everyone seemed to have a good time. The weather was the only abomination. It rained in Biblical proportions all Friday and some of Saturday, which probably put somewhat of a damper on attendance. Yours truly, with the able assistance of Fred Haub, ran the flea market tables. I sat at the front table taking money, crossing off names of those who prepaid, pointing in various directions, and occasionally sleeping, all while trying to look very official and business like. Fred Haub did things too but I can't remember. 2. The dealer's area was huge! Lots of tables full of things to look at and occasionally buy, not that I bought much this convention. Ever since Bob Hurst moved to Texas and broke up the "buying team", my car has returned from conventions empty of new stuff. On the one hand this is good, because my entire house is beginning to become hard to get into since it's so full of my hobby treasures. On the other hand, having no "really great deals" to brag about to the crew at PW makes a convention a bit unsatisfying. 3. PW, our most honorable company of gamers, is slowly fading. I've noticed over the last couple of years that attendance has slowly dwindled as well as the number of games. I have also noticed less enthusiasm from the club members, especially after reading some old issues of the Review. In those days, our members were oozing with enthusiasm, running for various offices, hosting gaming retreats, putting on demos for various events, just all over the place with energy. What's happened? 4. Well, some folks moved away, others found new interests, and still others just don't come as often. This has led to a pretty small crowd at each meeting, not to mention a shrinking treasury. Therefore, I have decided to call a "Wally's Basement" meeting for PW for a Friday night sometime in February for about an hour. I'd like all of our members to plan to attend. Topics we'll discuss are if we still want to have a club, possible new locations to hold our meetings (larger and free), and other business details. So bring your new ideas and we'll see where we are headed. I will provide a date and time in the very near future.
