1. ALERT! ALERT! Take note that the September meeting, regularly scheduled for the third Friday (September 16) will be postponed one week until the fourth Friday, the 23 of September. Pilgrim Church officials stated they had scheduled some sort of grand event on the 16th of September, and asked if we could postpone our meeting by one week. 2.The one week delay will not affect our flea market. Forgetest thou not that we will sponsor a flea market next month, in September, at the meeting at Pilgrim Church (Friday, September 23). We need to raise around $100 to see us through the year. The flea market area will be in one of the side rooms. Flea market tables are free, and the only fee we ask is 10 percent of what you sell. 3.The Navy sent CPO Jack Culberson, one of our gang, to Adak, Alaska for his last tour in service, prior to retiring. In the latest MWAN, Adak Jack had some interesting comments about the group that gathers around the Simon ping-pong table. With time hanging heavily on his hands (the days last six months), the lad volunteered to act as chief umpire for an ACW campaign, and I'll soon be mailing him the campaign outline. Movement of the forces will greatly depend upon the whim of the umpire. For example, I will inform Adak Jack that my forces will move southwest, that the advance will be hurried, and that I'm making for Briarpatch Mountain. I won't specify the exact distance to be moved, merely the objective I wish to eventually reach and the "model" of movement. In response, Adak Jack will determine exactly how far the troops moved, their disposition, attrition, whether or not they encountered enemy forces, etc. Assuming timely responses from the umpire, we'll fight the battles on my table, using 30mm figures for the smaller engagements and 15mm figures for the larger. I think this will be the Ilebenty Ilebenth campaign our group has started. None has ever finished. They all seem to die on the vine. I am determined, before I go to the Great Skirmish In The Sky, to finish at least one campaign effort.
