Big Chuck reports from the Powder Room
For the People (The Company Formerly Known as TAHGC): Lots of gamers want to marry Mark Herman and have his babies, this game is going down a bomb with the chattering classes. The major fly in the ointment is the leader loss rules, which are exercising a vocal group mightily, with a number of dark mutterings about Longstreet or A.P. Hill being as good as Bobbie Lee. Game-time good, jolly cards, popular topic, doncha just love it! Summary: buy it (if you can) but be prepared for an occasional house rule (you wild impetuous thing you). Summer Storm (Clash of Arms): Well it is big and it is pretty, but what does it play like. Has This Hallowed Gourd ruined its market? We don't know (and I couldn't care less). Summary: If ACW is your bag just buy it and don't give yourself a bad time thinking. The rest of us should sit around spitting and picking our teeth. Lodz 1914 (Moments in History) Simplified Home before the leaves fall but that does not make it simple. Lots of detail and lots of interest now that Ted Raicer has made World War One interesting. Suffering, perhaps, from a lack of easily available books on the topic. Summary: not for the three hour gamers, and be sure you enjoy a good portion of detail.
