Big Chuck reports from the Powder Room
Battles for North Africa (Richard Berg for GMT): Missing counters and questionable strategies indicate this one to be a minor pensee whipped up by Maestro Berg in his spare time. Popular with the "I just like games" crowd. Artwork and general accessibility good. You must have the five pages of errata to play. Summary: A Player but not a Gentleman. The Great War At Sea (Mike Bennighof for Avalanche): The artwork on the counters simply takes the average gamer's breath away. Lots of scenarios, oddly enough high marks from most people on not needing errata but also lots of clarification questions around. First in a series which we will all buy. Summary: Naval fans heaven, a game people like to like. Wave of Terror (Command) Very popular and widely played Battle of the Bulge game. Some gamers object to certain XTR foibles but it does not stop them playing. Once again Command has produced a big popular game set at the right level for players. Summary: Player's game on popular topic.
