These are my top twenty in period order. Personally, I enjoy games that are not too complex, are operational in scale and are reasonably mobile. I also enjoy games on individual battles rather than campaigns. I am aware that some of these games, if not all, are inaccurate in some way. For example, in Yom Kippur the Israeli artillery seems far too powerful. Forward To Richmond needs some simple command control rules added. Nonetheless, these are games to which I come back again and again.
