Leuthen Weapon

Vae Victis

by Charles Vasey

This is basically the Fontenoy system but it has two major problems over those of its siblings. Firstly the opening set-up seems to be just plain wrong. The approach march is being made at about 45 degrees to the Austrian front instead of the almost 90 degrees actually achieved. Not that this much matters because (at this is quite staggering) the Austrian line is butted up against the edge of the map (so most of the game occurs on half of the map)! Secondly, the Prussians have more sub-commands than the Austrians so in the average turn the Austrians have moved before all the Prussians (which is also pretty staggering). I have not considered how one might overcome these problems, but here is a set-up with which to experiment.

Duffy set-up
