The Corps

Corp Action Figure Line

By Ken Van Pelt

The Corp Action figure line is a product of a company called Lanard. The figures are articulated 3 3/4 inch fictional military and paramilitary characters. Each figure has a short biographical sketch provided on the backs of the product packaging. These are very similar to the GI Joe products available in the past and soon to be released again. However, these are readily available in the Kansas City area and they are cheap. A three-figure blister pack with vehicle (motorcycle or Jet Ski or even backpack jetpack) cost around 3.96! I became addicted. Very addicted.

The typical wargamer sees possibilities in nearly any and all military style toys. Local stores carrying the Lanard products with a Kansas City address on the back had me intrigued. First reaction - Hey these are pretty cool! Second thought - You know they aren't all that expensive! Decision - I must own one of each of these figures and every assorted vehicle and version thereof. You know the story.

I must refer you to a very interesting site and suggest you visit and follow the links contained within these websites because it opened a genre and collecting craze that I did not know existed before. I became very interested in a Corps website at: http://webusers.anet-stl.com/~stinson/corps/

The possibility of collecting all of the Corp figures is very easy. There are currently 30 figures in the Corp military style set. There is also a Space figures Lanard toy line. The military figures are usually available at Kmart, Wal-Mart, and even Osco. When collecting, the figures do not be put off by duplicates. These figures can be cannibalized and create new and different action figures. Especially since the Corps does not have any enemy figures built in to the line. They fight terrorism, and complete "missions" in all environments from high tech to jungle recon.
