Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen to another Issue of the Penny Whistle. It is with great pleasure that I direct your attention to the masthead above, because it bares a new device within its old form. This has been an eventful year for the Lion's Den Wargamers in terms of the continuing air war theme and our joining the Website: MAGWEB! Future issues of the Penny Whistle will appear in electronic form on the above noted address. This is something we at Lion's Den are very excited about! If you have a chance check out this site and join. There are a number of very high quality magazines available for reference within this site. We are both, humbled and very proud to be able to participate with this project.

Great news! Fighter Command © is ready and will be available with the printing of this issue of the Whistle. This game simulates air combat during World War Two. The scale is 1/72, and the game is designed to be played outdoors. In earlier playtests, at the Call to Arms Convention (HAHMGS) 1994, this game was awarded the "Best of Show." Check six!, because someone is going to be playing this game in a backyard near you!

To celebrate the accomplishment of adding another product to our catalog of games we will debut the finished product at Punic Wars III, in Branson, Missouri on September 13, 1997, at the College of the Ozarks Gym. This is a growing mini con. that is free to attend!

There is also an updated version of Bleeding Kansas © that will be available at the PunicWars III convention. Following the advice of reviews, that the game needed more detailed information on the weapons of the period, an in-depth weapons chart has been added to the game. All mechanics of the game remain the same just a finer shopping list of gunsmith merchandise. Soon to be added will be the Military depot, and the Indian Trader mercantile. This game will be run at PunicWars III in the evening, or in the event of a rainout that would force Fighter Command indoors. We will feature the Taney County Baldknobbers in a western gunfight scenario! The action promises to be fast and furious.

This "flight" of the Penny Whistle is scheduled to develop the Gnatz Air Combat Rules © into the contemporary era. While highly "notional", you will find that the game lends itself to an in-depth reading list that will blow you away! In pursuit of the flavor of the combat of modern jets, we came across so much detailed and relevant information that the reading list alone is worth a look. You will need to bring more than a little research to creating scenarios in the modern era. But then, that's why we love this hobby so much.

"Flight thirty-two clear for take-off."
