September 14, the Lion's Den Wargamers responded to an invitation from the Carthage Military Historians to attend a free mini-con in Branson, MO. True to the Carthage group's logo: Vini.Vidi. Vici. We went. We saw a great time. We gamed in fine fashion with interested participants. The site of the convention was the College of the Ozarks spacious gymnasium. There is room enough for all at this venue and talk of returning for another show. The convention was really small by chapter standards however, the venue holds big promise and I for one feel it should be pursued for future dates in the TAHMGS/HAHMGS calendar. Our group wishes to express sincere gratitude to Dave Pritchard and Chris Wilkowski for the invitation; and many thanks to the staff and JROTC people we met at the college. The first gaming session the Lion's Den club played in the Yom Kippur War'73 desert armor sponsored by Chris Wilkowski. I will be real brief on this action because I anticipate an after-action report is coming from the game master. The Egyptian force fulfilled its victory conditions by overwhelming numbers and effective artillery. I know this because I was the lead armor element commander-which was shot to pieces (80% casualties at least.); and there were still two more waves of armor behind me to maneuver. It was said after the game that the Israeli forces sprung their ambush too soon- applying too much force to too little of our armor and exposing their forces to our artillery spotters. This was my first experience at playing micro-armor on a splendid desert terrain board with convention playable home grown armor rules. The Lion's Den club sponsored the next two gaming sessions with western gunfight scenarios. The Baldknobbers era was a natural choice considering the venue of the convention. The scenarios are included in this issue so look them up and enjoy. They make fine additions to the Bleeding Kansas skirmish gaming rules. Thanks for your attention.
