Lions Den Wargames

by Jon Haworth

The time has come for a new warrior to enter the realm of the Great Corporate War. From the release of this issue, LION'S DEN WARGAMES will be a source to further expand your wargame library. This was a decision that we came to in the hopes that we could bring some of our ideas and games to print so that other gamers would have the chance at a wider selection of products to choose from. Our goal is to provide quality games that are simple in design and easily playable. Plans are also in process to provide accessories to compliment the rules systems, such as terrain features.

The products that we will offer are the games that you have seen us run at conventions and hobby stores in Kansas City, as well as Oklahoma and Texas. Historical as well as fantasy games will be available. The first of which will be AURIGAE, a convention playable set of rules for chariot racing in 54mm! AURIGAE is based on a "push-pin" system to mark maneuvers and speed, allowing for the driver's skill and horse team for additional fun. The action is fast paced with only the most fearless (or insane) driver becoming victorious!

Keep a watchful eye out f6r the Summer '95 release of FIGHTER COMMAND, an air combat system for 1/72nd scale aircraft that is played outdoors! FIGHTER COMMAND covers air combat in World War II, any operational theater. Dogfights could take place in your backyard, at the city park, or even in a football stadium (if you happened to own one)! Aircraft move in measures of yards and weapons fire is scaled off in feet. A pilot's skill, or luck, may be the only factor in returning to his airfield or plummeting to a fiery doom.

Along the lines of World War II, THEATER OF OPERATION is slated for a Fall '95 release. It is a skirmish level combat system for 54mm and 1/35th scale figures and vehicles. The scope of the game is from squad to platoon level combat. This can be played as player versus player game, or a player versus the Game Referee, using random encounter generated scenarios. The system strives to follow a realistic approach to the conflict while maintaining ease of play.

Other games and products include rules sets for the American Civil War, the French and Indian War, Vietnam, Western Gunfights, and Science-Fiction Warfare. Products will include scenic pieces and sourcebooks with tips on how to model those pieces into excellent tabletop terrain. All this and more awaits you when you game in the LION'S DEN.
