King Arthur Ancients
and Medieval Weekend

by Daniel C. Reardon

On Saturday February 24, and Sunday, February 25, 1995, the Lion's Den Wargaming Club will be hosting the fabulous King Arthur Ancients and Medieval weekend, a festival of food, drink, and wargaming in the jolly ole' tradition at Tabletop Game and Hobby, 7797 Quivera, Lenexa, Kansas. During the weekend participants may play a number of Arthurian, medieval, and ancient battles, including The Siege of Badon Hill and King Arthur's Grand Tournament.

Ken Van Pelt will host a six-player DBA tournament, A D 1000, Conquest of Britain, in which players will do battle on Bntish, Irish, and French soil to claim the throne of the British empire. Joe Tremel will run The Battle of Straussburg, circa A D 350, where the Roman Legions and the Goths clashed in one of the Dark Age's most famous battles. Larry Garrett plans to run an ancient Chinese Campaign, pitting the Huns against the Sung dynasty. John Cordry and Jon Haworth will reprise The Siege of Badon Hill, a historical Arthurian battle of Britons and AngloSaxons which was featured at Border Wars IV and VI. All participants throughout the weekend may also play in King Arthur's Grand Tournament, a display showcased at the Chaosium booth at the 1995 Gen Con convention. Players will draw Knights of the Round Table and enter a joust based on King Edward III's Tournament of the Garter in 1343.

All games other than the DBA campaign will be played using WRG 6th edition rules. Prizes and discount coupons will be given for the winning players of each game, good for merchandise at Tabletop Game and Hobby. Look for advertisements and fliers at Tabletop; early in February pre-registration sign-up sheets for each Barne will be available there.
