To the watchers on the parapets, it appeared as a small distortion. One of them noticed it as it went by (headed for the dam) and pointed it out to his sergeant, but no action was taken... Elkin and Tato were, of course, contained within an energy field caused by Tato's pendant and Elkin's staff. They could see out; but no one could see them. They landed at the far edge of the rock wall... "Here," said Elkin quietly, "take these carefully. DON'T drop them until I tell you to..." Tato grasped some hand-sized top-shaped objects with handles. "What do we do with these?" Tato asked nervously. "We will fly together across the dam of stones at a path just below the edge of the dry side. We will drop these, when I signal at five places along the center of the wall. When they explode, the dam will burst." "When they WHAT???" stammered Tato. "Oh, don't worry. They have to fall a pretty good distance before they'll go off. Besides, we may have to turn around and drop some more; but I think one pass will do it..." "You carry these things around with you??!!" "Twelve is all I brought. Anyway, drop them when my arm waves so we can get them in the correct place..." Tato and Elkin glided on their pegasi about thirty feet above the dam. "First one, NOW!!" called Elkin. Tato and Elkin each dropped one. They hit the rock wall at dead center and exploded with a mighty blast of air and sound. "Second one, NOW" yelled Elkin. There was a similar double blast. "Two this time, NOW..." The noise deafened their ears, but on they flew. "One, NOW!" Then: "Last one, NOW!!!" "Away, Tato! Quickly!!!... With a noise that sounded like an earthquake, the rock wall collapsed in the center as the stones were swept away. A forty foot high wall of water rushed down the valley engulfing everything in its path -- including the two Drog garrisons camped in the valley below. The water poured forth... Elkin and Tato urged their mounts into a fast climb. Their steeds were sore afraid...
