The North Maple Forest where Keri was raised has a variety of trees, especially Maples, Oaks, and Beeches. It is most notable (and hence its name) for its Sugar Maples and Red Maples, most of which tower 300 feet in the air!. There are many groves of nut trees also -- walnuts and butternuts are prevalent. Next to the rolling streams are the willows and sycamore. In the higher elevations are the evergreen, balsam, birch and poplar stands... The terrain of the North Maple Forest is more than just rolling woods. Many water courses have cut into the rock, forming many more hidden springs, pools, and waterfalls... There are many wild beasts that may be trapped and hunted for food and clothing, and although some are dangerous, most of the animals are afraid of mankind and harmless. There are rumored to be those who tame and ride the steeds of the forest. Some say even mythical steeds may be found there... The people of the Forest may be found by those who diligently search for them: Elves in the Eastern portion and Gnomes in the far North beside the mountains. A few men of Toridar live there also. The main trading town is Mapleton, located centrally... A man or woman could survive there easily in any season...
