Highway to the Kremlin

Game Development News

by Kevin Zucker

I have put together the map for Highway to the Kremlin (HTK). It's two sections, 34" x 44" and goes from Tilsit to Moscow and from Riga down past the Pripyat Marshes. This map is ready to go to the artist. At current rates, either this game or "The Sun of Austerlitz" will follow Bonaparte in Italy into production. Send in your pre-advanced orders to keep this game on track!

I have discarded the idea of area movement for this game. One hex is 10 miles, which is equivalent to a "NAB" 2-day turn's normal movement (5 MPs x 2 mi.) in clear terrain. So we have the equation: one turn in NAB = one MP in HTK.

Turns in HTK will be 18 days, and in that time you will have 10 days of normal marching (50 miles) and 8 days of administrative stuff (baking, waiting for wagons and stragglers). Or you can force march up to 40 more miles and go out of supply. Which means, just like in NAB, a normal infantry movement allowance will be 5 MPs, plus a possible 4 MP forced march.
