Some folks who ordered Sun of Austerlitz four years ago are getting their copy of the game for 40%-off or more. With the unceasing inflation in paper prices, the prices we originally announced for the pre-pub titles will eventually drop below wholesale levels. We're going to attack this problem with two strategies: 1) by increasing the pre-publication prices for all the pre-advanced games by 27%. That's $10 for a $36 game, $11 for a $40 game, and $13 for a $48 game. This is necessary because of increased printing prices and last year's postal rate increase (see discussion above). This change in pricing will take effect on 04 March 2003. Rather than cancel all the projects and start over with new prices, we are going to put a cap on discounts for all future publications. (We have already charged the Sun of Austerlitz orders, so we'll take our lumps on that one.) Starting with our next release, our maximum discount will be 30%. If the nominal dollar amount of your original order would yield a final discount greater than 30%, it will be capped at 30%. Since ALL the pre-advanced discounts were advertised as either 20% or 25%-off of the retail price, a 30% discount is still reasonable and fair. We need to hear from you! Let us know whether you agree with the revised pricing policy. If you do not like the idea, we may have to cancel all the pre-pub titles and start over from scratch with new prices.
