Thanks for your response to my last e-mail. It is such a pleasure to hear back from the people who design games when you've written them.

I'm glad to learn that no one is trying to hurry HtK too quickly, even though I'm sure many would like to see the game sooner than later. I was also intrigued by what you wrote concerning the beginning campaign of the game. Here is what interested me the most:

I know I was never clear on the opening phase of the campaign ... until now. The reason is that most military histories are so bad at conveying the sweep of events. Most of them are even completely wrong in many important details. It seems people try to write these histories withouty placing a finger on a real map. This is where our games have it all over a book.

OK, the statement about, "military histories are so bad... Most of them are even completely wrong in many important details.", begs the question, which authors did you find who were completely wrong and which ones had dug out their maps and done their homework? I have a few books on the 1812 campaign and I'm curious to discover which books you found totally useless and which ones invaluable.

You must be very busy with the last minute details of the game, so please don't worry about responding to my question immediately. I've done a very quick search at your web site for any source material you may have used in designing this game, but I didn't see anything. However, I really didn't dig too deep, so if I've passed it over, just direct me in the right direction and I'll go from there.

Thanks again for your last e-mail. I look forward to not only a great game, but learning about which sources you used which ones you didn't.

A lot in the press recently about record cold. Tell ya, forget Global Warming. Roll back the clock 3 decades: it's the returning Ice Age now. All that stuff we were doing against warming, have to reverse field 180deg.
