[Editor sez: If you live in Paris, an American gamer visiting in April is looking for opponents... From: James Munch I just bought La Guerre. Good game from the looks of it. Considerable elegance in the approach to a complex era. I saw something, somewhere, suggesting there are variants out for pre 1805, Directory, or otherwise. Is there such a thing and, if so, where might I find it. [We did some work on this which was published in old issues of this newsletter. We worked out the naval OB for the period post 1793. Will require new counters:] Second, I will be in Paris in April (London as well), and would be intrigued to have a chance to meet some of the the French gaming crowd. I do 6mm Napoleonics on a massive scale (couple thousand of the wee beasts ....), and game a great deal in the period (and lecture on occasion at University of Maine Orono on Classical military history and Prussian institutions). That said, do you have any suggestions on folks to meet, gaming places or otherwise in Paris. [There is a game store ... Starship Player 5, rue Dante Paris 75005:] Also, as a last note, we have a fairly consistent group that does historical gaming, SYW and Napoleonics. We have what I call a good playability/historical detail mix. We like to have fun, but 'feel' and the like are key. I would be interested in play testing or commenting, if such would be of use to you. I also (being an attorney) have some editing and the like skills. Please let me know. I have two of your games, Guerre and 1806, both purchased within the past month and am impressed by both.
