This project is on the back burner, but we still think about it from time to time. One challenge is with the lack of terrain intelligence. The French had only a sketchy idea of the terrain, and they were often steered wrong by the local peasants who guided them. Importantly, they had no idea where or whether they would be able to bridge the Tagus, and they were ignorant of the Lines of Torres Vedras. River hexsides are to be assigned a number, a rating like an initiative rating. You have to roll to see if the hexside is bridgable. The ratings will be based on the likelihood of fordable conditioins based upon actual terrain conditions (such as re-entrant bends in the river, steepness of the valley, depth and flow of the river, etc.). Vedettes will be able to ride through and "recon" the hexside (allowing a roll of the die), and can recon Wellington's fortified hexes in the same way.
