MMP Changes Sales Plans

Support and Revenues by MMP

Recent events in the board wargaming distribution system have caused us to rethink the way we market and sell games. We need to ensure that the games we produce are the games that you folks want to play, as well as providing a more reliable cash flow that will allow us to continue to reprint and support long-standing (yet often slow-selling) core modules to game systems like ASL and hard-to-find items like DAK or Omaha. We have decided that the time is right to implement several new policies concerning how we are going to produce and sell our games.

The first, and biggest, change is the immediate implementation of a preordering system similar to the " P" system that other game companies have been employing. Go to www.multimanpublishing.com and click on the "preorder page" link to see our pre- ordering website. On this site, you'll be able to pick and choose which games you want MMP to produce by committing to buy the game when it is available.

The only games on our P-list will be those for which we have submitted designs in house, for which development (and playtesting) of that product are complete, and which are ready or nearly ready to be printed. Once the designated P# is reached, we will print and ship the game. This is to keep the time frame between a game "hitting" its P# and printing to an absolute minimum.

When you select a game on our P-list you commit to buy this game when it becomes available directly from us at a 25% discount on the retail price (plus shipping and handling). You will not be billed until this game is shipped.

We remain committed to supporting local game stores and to fostering the hobby at the local level. We hope to achieve this goal by increasing our standard discount to stores. Details on this will be fowarded to stores shortly.

Third, we are implementing an "endless subscription" program to two of our magazines, Operations and the ASL journal. This works similarly to the preordering system above, except no particular P-# needs to be reached; we will print and ship the magazines whenever they are ready. In the case of Operations, we expect to be on a regular schedule (either three or four issues per year). Our intent is to produce at least one Journal per year as well, although we'd like to eventually release three Journals every two years. You subscribe to either (or both!) Operations or the ASL journal. When the next issue is available, we will bill your charge card and ship it to you right away. You can maintain your subscription for as long as you wish or cancel it at any time.

By having an openended subscription, you will receive a 20% discount off of the retail price on the magazine. Currently, new Operations magazines have a retail price of $6 per issue (which includes shipping to subscribers!) and ASL Journals run between $20 and $30 per issue depending on content. We will notify our subscribers before any significant increase is implemented to let them drop out if they want. Existing subscriptions will be honored for the number of magazines originally subscribed to. Udo Grebe Games will be fulfilling our European Operations subscriptions, so a slight delay may be encountered until he gets his magazines.

Finally, we will have to implement a small price increase on most of our existing product line, but will not do so until August or September. As usual, this does not affect the most recent releases.

While this is a radical departure from how we have previously produced and sold games, we believe this will help keep MMP busy producing and selling games well into the future!
