The opening battles in Belgium were the focal point of the start of the Great War in western Europe. While four armies struggled through the fog of war and the horrors of machine guns and siege mortars, the eyes of the world looked to Belgium. Commanders had to maneuver larger armies for higher stakes than ever before. This scenario was designed for players to solve many problems in a limited time. It can be played in two hours or less and was designed with SCS tournament play in mind. Playing Area: The northern half of the map is in play. The historical Mobilization Points are used and the FDL rules are in effect. Turns: 1-6 Initial Deployment:Germans: 2 Cavalry Corps and the 3 Assault KGs. Allies: The Belgian Army, French 5 Army HQ and 1 Cavalry Corps. Reinforcements:Germans: All German units for Mobilization Points 1,2 and 3. Allies: French Mobilization Points C, D, H and I, plus the BEF. Special Rules:1) The French I Cavalry Corps (only) may cross the FDL and may enter Belgium at any time after Turn 1. 2) The Germans must make the Eastern Withdrawal or suf- fer the 5 VP penalty. Victory ConditionsVictory Points are awarded as follows, at scenario end subtract the Allied VP total from the German VP Total. The resulting number determines the level of victory:
German Minor Victory: +10 to +15 Draw: +5 to +9 Allied Minor Victory: +5 to -5 Allied Major Victory: -6 or less Germans:
