HomerCon West

2-4 March 2001

by Mark Ruggiero

HomerCon West Gamers wargame fest is on for 2,3, and 4 March 2001, with around-the-clock gaming Friday l0arn through Sunday 10pm. The location is the conference center at the Lodi, California Holiday hin Express, 1140 South Cherokee Ln. This is thirty-five minutes from Sacramento and two hours, tops, from most Bay-area locations.

The convention will feature Sicily and Burma from the OCS, This Terrible Sound from RSS, Drive on Paris from SCS, Circus Minimus, and the TCS series, plus other games from The Gamers.

We will be providing one copy each of Sicily, This Terrible Sound, Drive on Paris, and A Frozen Hell for play. These games are not all that will be played, just the most popular according to feedback so far. We need all attendees to bring copies of the games they want to play to be sure we have enough. Remember, space is limited, so register soon. That does not mean the event will be cramped, but we are limiting the number of participants to keep the event very comfortable, with plenty of room for everyone. I do not want anybody to be left out that wants to attend, but once we fill up, that's all we are going to be able take. Total slots will be 20-25 people, and eight are already spoken for (as of 1 November).

Pre-registration and at-the-door registration costs are:

    now till 15 January $30.00
    16 January till 15 February $35.00
    16 February till 28 February $40.00
    at the door $45.00

Register soon. Make check or money order payable to:

    Mark A. Ruggiero
    835 West Hamey Ln #74
    Lodi CA 95240

Be sure to include your name, address, and phone number as well as e-mail address with your pre-registration.

Hotel reservations should be made as soon as possible; this is a new and very nice hotel which therefore tends to fill up fast. Rates are $79.00 for one or two beds and $71.10 for CSAA members.

Call (209) 334-6422 for reservations. Plenty of places to eat are within easy walking distance. Also, the hotel offers free continental breakfast. Find a roommate to lower costs. For more info contact me, Mark Ruggiero, at investor@inreach.com or call (209) 333-8150 home or work (209) 334-5897.

There will be further updates as we may offer t-shirts. If we can have nice t-shirts made up for 15-20 dollars each, how many of you planning to attend would be interested? Also, Gamers games will be available for purchase at the event. Pre-register soon as space is limited and based on response we will fill up quick. I look forward to meeting all who attend. It will be a great weekend of gaming and fun.

[Ed. note: Mark A Ruggiero is president of the Lodi Historical Game Club. All costs are expressed in US dollars.
