Call for Operations Articles

In this issue we cover the OCS with my timely piece on Sicily. I hope it helps get you into the game. I also have in hand some good articles from players of Burma and DAK, and I may be able to bring in something interesting about Hube's Pocket as well.

I'm talking with Dave Powell to bring you something on This Terrible Sound soon. As I write this, he's showing off TTS at Origins 2000 and should have plenty of good ideas for how to get started with this grand game.

Another timely article is Mike Stohlmeyer's piece with variants for Drive on Paris. Our other SCS feature here covers Ardennes, a game that, I know from personal observation, enjoys lasting popularity. From what I see in the consimworld.com discussion area, DoP looks like it will also have legs.

TCS fans can look forward to an article by Lee Forester bringing the principles of Maneuver Warfare to Black Wednesday. You may have noticed that the TCS is our series with the oldest new games. That is, the most recent TCS releases are from Fall 1997. Now's the time to sound off about your TCS favorites. And remember, A Frozen Hell is on its way this year.

Ubi sunt? (Where are they?) I mean, specifically, all those CWB players. When I talk to people face-to-face about this series, I always hear about what a great game the full Seven Days campaign is. It has gotten the full nine-map workout at Origins, Homercon, and I don't know where else. I'd certainly like to see an article on this topic (and may be able to arrange one dealing with the HomerCon 1999 session). For that matter, I'd welcome more CWB material in general. There was a time when I'd always have at least one good feature on this series in each issue. I'm sure Champion Hill, April's Harvest, and No Better Place to Die have not suffered overexposure in our pages. So let's hear from the guys who have interesting stories and ideas about these games.

If you're interested in writing for Operations, visit The Gamers web site, send me an e-mail at opsed@tgamers.com, or send good old postal mail to The Gamers (marked Attn: Operations editor). You might want to contact a series honcho to explore article ideas. The honchos' e-mail addresses appear on page 3, or you can write to them care of The Gamers.

I have at least one article here with no name attached to it: "Storing the Cardboard Hordes" (is this one yours, Guy Wilde?)
