The Future of UGG

Games in Progress

by Udo Grebe

The health of Udo Grebe lead to a delay of the release date for Cold Days in Hell. Udo is on the way to recovery slowly, but all other future UGG games are affected too. UGG hopes to have Blitzkrieg General (formerly Dictator's Devilish Dreams) published in 1999. When you read this article it should be available. Generally UGG will downsize its yearly game output from 3-4 games per year to 1-2 games per year.

Games in Development

All release dates on the following games stated in earlier announcements are delayed. Crimson Steel (Pacific War) is now Empires of Apocalypse Part IV. Crimson Steel will be published before 1936 Empires of Apocalypse Part V. The Special Scenario Kit covering 5 more Eastern Front scenarios will be playtested independently. UGG is looking for (unpaid) Special Scenario Kit playtesters. Owners of Cold Days in Hell who would like to help a wargame company and have fun at the same time please contact UGG.

Project P 500

P 500 means that UGG will not publish any game after Blitzkrieg General unless it scores 500 prepub orders. The P 500 orders are conditional. A 'preorder customer' will not be charged before the respective game reaches 500 pre-orders. If the game does not reach this mark, no customers will be charged.

Major reason for this is that the distribution system has become more and more unstable. Years ago the market simply 'absorbed' the necessary print run of a game. A flop could ruin a small company like UGG. You will be informed when a game qualifies to be put on the P 500 list. More details to follow.

Gamers Europe News

HomerCon Europe II (June 1- June 4, 2000) Braunfels, Germany will happen at the same place as last year. More details to follow in the next issue.

The European Operations magazine subscribers get their magazine shipped by UGG starting with issue 34. This is regardless whether you made your subscription in Europe or at the Gamers headquarters.

[Ed. note: Dean hopes to be able to attend HomerCon Europe in 2000. No plans are final yet, but Dean will 'be making every effort' to be there.]
