Production Schedule: Bonaparte In ItalyCounters: to printer before end of the month (Yamazaki)
Currently (as of 21 October) the French Unit Manifest is underway. This will look like the Unit Manifest in Napoleon at Bay (3rd). BiI benefits from the development of the Castiglione project; the 29 July set-up has been completely revised to conform with information brought to light in Bernhard's book. The map as well is revisited, particularly along the southern coast of Lake Garda. The forage ratings for the entire map have been revised as well: no longer -bottomland' and 'flatland,' the two clear terrain types are 'vineyards' and 'gardens,' the latter, near towns, being less fertile soil. The old model was based upon elevation, the revised model upon detailed land-use maps. Pre-Advanced Offers With Bonaparte in Italy now in production, the three most popular titles for pre-advanced orders are Abensberg/Eckmuhl, Highway to the Kremlin, and The Sun of Austerlitz. The first of these, Abensberg/Eckmuhl, is from the 6Dog/1806/Last Days series and covers these battles from the 1809 Danube campaign. The other two candidates would both be in the Napoleon at Bay (or Campaigns of Napoleon) series. Highway to the Kremlin would cover the 1812 campaign with 2 maps and 560 counters; The Sun of Austerlitz would be a one-map, 280 counter treatment of Napoleon's days of glory in 1805. Do not assume you are too late to order any of these games at pre-advanced prices. Contact OSG for the latest word on pre-advanced offers. OSG Design PhilosophyI think there is a similarity of design philosophy between OSG and Operations readers focused on:
Taken together, these things bring the focus properly where it should be, to the perspective of the Army Commander, as opposed to the traditional wargame focus on the grunt's eye view of moving and fighting. [Ed. note: Don't forget to ask about subscriptions to Wargame Design, OSG's 'house organ' magazine.] Back to Table of Contents -- Operations #35 Back to Operations List of Issues Back to MagWeb Master List of Magazines © Copyright 1999 by The Gamers.
