I read with interest the article by Guy Wilde, "An OCS Assessment" (Operations 33). I generally agree with his comments, good and bad. Actually, there wasn't much bad at all. In my opinion, it is probably the best game system in existence. I suggest a solution for the one outstanding complaint brought by Mr. Wilde -- the lack of separate engineering units and a general insufficiency of engineering capacity. Headquarters have "throw ranges" for a reason, and I have simply created a house rule whereby a headquarters unit can apply its engineering capacities anywhere within its throw range instead of only in the hex in which it is located. I think that this house rule solves the designer's desire to avoid cluttering the map with extra non-combat units, but also allows a more realistic flexibility in the application of engineering capabilities.
