After listening to a couple players' concerns, I have decided to adopt a new approach to publishing errata ("corrigenda" for Latin purists) in Operations. The problem confronting a reader is how to find new corrections without having to read through several pages of items he already knows about. Last issue I used a star to point out new items, but I neglected to include the revised air tables for GD'40 . Merely highlighting the new errata items does not address the question of how many times you really need to read "M/DM/2 should be M/DH/2 on the counter." As an editor, I look at three pages of errata and think of the additional article that could be there instead. My job is to make sure you get at least your money's worth with every issue, and I believe that subscribers will get more value per issue if I limit the errata page to new items only. So this time, I am including only the items that have changed since the printing of Ops 14, plus those air tables. Don't I wish the problem were that easy. A good number of readers get their copies of Operations from the hobby shop magazine rack. You guys may not have every issue of the mag, and some of you are newcomers to Operations and The Gainers. Well, I want you to feel welcome, not forgotten. As it turns out, Dean is planning to do a comprehensive errata mailing along with the free variant countersheet coming out around Christmastime. To get your copy of these goodies, be sure to mail in the response card from any Gainers game. As a newcomer to our mailing list, you will automatically receive more errata and variant counters than you'll know what to do with right away. The upcoming errata mailing will bring everyone up to date as of the end of the year. From then on, you will require only the occasional new item, to be published right here. Let me know how you like (or dislike) this approach. The aim of this magazine is to support, inform, and make life easier for players of our games, so I'll handle the errata with an eye toward meeting your requirements. Civil War Brigade Series (2nd ed.,revised)Fire splitting is not allowed-a single brigade unit counter or extended line can only engage one target hex. The independent fire of extended lines is not considered to be "fire splitting" and is allowed. This rule does not affect artillery fires. GD'40Use these air tables instead of the tables provided with the game. German Air Power
