Way back in December we received a flyer and information from the folks - Connecticut Game Club - CGC - that run the Crusades conventions up in Connecticut. Since we didn't have a newsletter out before Crusades '99 (January 15-17) this is just a notice to remind our members who might travel up that way to look them up. Their mailing address P.O. Box 403, Fairfield, CT 06430-0403; e-mail is IDIC3@aol.com; and they can be reached by phone/fax at (203) 373-9007. From the looks of their flyer, they seem to have quite a few games at Crusades, with most of them being miniature games. Clash of Arms Games send us a nice little postcard with some information on one of their new releases: Volume X in the La Bataille series, La Bataille de Latzen, the first major battle of Napoleon's 1813 campaign for Germany. Designer is Monte Mattson. From the card it appears to have very colorful counters and map. They classify La Bataille de Lidzen as a "Limited Edition", and state that it will only be available through them or the "best stores". Price is $70.00. Clash of Arms Games can be reached by phone/fax at (610) 935-7622; by mail at Byme Bldg. #205, Lincoln & Morgan Sts., Phoenixville, PA 19460; by e-mail at CLASHOFARM@AOL.COM. Their website can be found at http://www.clashofarms.com. NOVAG got a free copy of Golden Age Productions' 1998 Catalog recently. A very interesting little thing it is, with black and white photos of many of the Sci-Fi and Fantasy costumes and props that they sell. They also have a limited amount of gaming miniatures and models, including some things from Games Workshop, Call of Cthulu, Hudson & Allen, and Battletech. If you are a collector of swords and armor, or even a LARP enthusiast, these are the people to call. Their mailing address is 2760 Michigan Ave, Suite 2, Kissimmee, FL 34744. They have a toll-free sales number of 1-800-671-4867 and a fax number of 407-944-4400. They can be e-mailed at bluesales@goldenafe-prod.com, and they have a website at http://www.goldenage-prod.com. Avalanche Press, Ltd. sent us a flyer announcing their latest and greatest just after the our last NOVAG News went to print. Avalanche announces the availability of several new titles including: Airlines2 - a game reproducing the business of running a major national air carrier, price $38.00; The Great War at Sea: Plan Orange - their third volume which introduces some "what-if 'ships and airplane-carrying Zeppelins, price $38.00; and reintroduces their Eagles of the Empire: Borodino game- 380 counters on one map, price $42.00. An announcement flyer was received for Radcon2, a Sci-Fi/Fantasy convention being held on April 10, 1999 in Hampton, VA. From the look of the flyer, it is mostly a Comic Book con. Admission is $4.50, dealer tables are $65 for one, $55 for each additional (mail pre-payment checks, made out to "Aria Press", on tables to: 12638-28 Jefferson Ave, Suite 173, Newport News, VA 23602). They will be having several comic book artists as their special guests. Location will be the Hampton Holiday Inn, 1815 W. Mercury Blvd, Hampton, VA 23666 (1-757-838-0200). The HMGS Mid-South Dispatch for December 1998 arrived last month, and if you have never seen it, the Mid-South newsletter is much like their HMGS East counterpart, though it tends to have more "small-club" feel to it. This might have to do with the fact that they ARE smaller, and their long-time editor, Maj (Ret) Bill Harting, USAF has kept it in the same format for some time, giving it an older look. They probably have better gaming-related articles than East, though their production quality is not as good. Also, unlike the East newsletter (but like the NOVAG News) Mid-South has advertisements from retailers and mail order companies in it. This can be a pro- or con-, though if kept up to date, a good ad can give you better information than an article. If you are interested in joining Mid-South, they can be reached at 101 Taylor Rd, Estill Springs, TN 37330-383 1, or e-mail the editor at Majorbill@united.net. Their web site can be found at: http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Alley/505 1/hmgs.htm. The HMGS East Newsletter for December 1998 also arrived in P.O. Box 223660 last month, as they always send us a courtesy copy, as we do also for them. Many of you are also members of HMGS-East, so I don't need to say too much about it. NOVAG's own Bob Liebl had a nice little article entitled "Croissants at War", about the role (pun intended) of croissants on the history of warfare. Why doesn't Bob send these gems to us? Other than that, the December issue contained a listing of members for HMGS East, the usual editorials, listings of conventions and organizations, and registration information for Cold Wars '99 (late this year - April 16-18, 1999), which will once again be held at the Lancaster Host (Holiday Inn). To join HMGS East, send them $ 10 care of Col Wilbur E. Gray, Secretary, HMGS East, 2727 Duke St, Apt 1106, Alexandria, VA 22314, or call (703) 461-6723, or e-mail lungs I @earthlink.net for more information. HMGS East has a web site at: http://home.earthlink.net/-hmgsl/index.htm.
