This issue's cover depicts the five Sullivan brothers. After getting special permission from the Secretary of the Navy, they all served aboard the cruiser U.S.S. Juneau in the Pacific during World War II. On November 13, 1942, the Juneau was sunk off of Guadacanal, and all five brothers lost their lives. This tragedy prompted Congress to enact a law commonly referred to as the Sullivan Act. It prevents all members from the same family from serving in the same combat zone at the same time.
