Letter from the President

State of the NOVAG

By John McConnell

Hello Again NOVAG Faithful,

And welcome to another edition of the NOVAG News! The past couple of months have been good ones for NOVAG, and included the latest GAMECON and the usual Friday night games at the Game Parlor. GAMECON 11 was a success if measured by either attendees, games run, or money brought in. We netted around $150 (woohoo!), and because of this I expect that we will continue to keep prices where they have been in the past ($3 for members, $5 for non- members); a REAL deal for sure if you ask me!

With this issue we add yet another sponsoring store to the list!! Rider's Hobby Shop in Sterling. I haven't yet been there myself, but some of the other members have, and I hear that they carry a variety of hobby and gaming stuff. Two of their employees attended the GAMECON and seemed to be fairly impressed with our tumout (I was!). We can expect to see them with a vendor table at future events I believe.

On another subject, I would like to take a moment to ask all of our members who attend HISTORICON or any of the HMGS East conventions to consider running an event under the NOVAG "banner". Similar to what some other groups do, I would like NOVAG to start putting together a consolidated playing area/room for all of our members to run games together. I think that this would be a great idea for a number of reasons: it would raise our club's visibility; it would be a great place for NOVAG members to meet up; and we could keep an eye on each other's gwnes when we have to step away for a moment when the stomach is growling or nature calls. Please consider it. Contact me through the NOVAG mailing address or through my personal e-mail at: firstva@patriot.net if you are interested. Thanks... until next time.
