Long time, no see NOVAG faithful! Sorry it took so long getting this out, but a combination of things kept slowing down the production. Rest assured that there will be 6 issues of the NOVAG News between now and next September! And now on to the news! As you may have noticed by now, by some quirk of fate I have once again been elected as NOVAG's president. Other positions are filled by familiar faces: vice president is Ed Stewart, Treasurer is Joerg Duenzen, Secretary is David Luff, and Member at Large is Dan Willy. Rob Wayment has agreed to continue in the role of Newsletter Editor for this year, as well as taking care of our web site. Hopefully, we will see a couple of more things on it this year, as some of you have requested. NOVAGCON '97, which was held back in August was our most successful convention ever in terms of attendance, both in games and in people playing, up from last year. Look elsewhere in this issue for more complete information on the event. On October 11th NOVAG had a miniature gaming day at the Game Parlor, but due to the newsletter's lateness and some people not being able to attend it was miniature in more ways than one. Still, we had 6+ games going on, and people had a good time. I hope to schedule more of events of this type in the future (January or February maybe?), so be watching this space in the next issue for more information and an exact date. Dates for our conventions are set for next year (already!): GAMECON will be held, once again, at the Tyson's Comer Westpark Hotel on Saturday, April 13th 1998, and NOVAGCON'98 will be on September 11-12th at the same location. As you might expect, we will have much more detailed information in upcoming issues of the NOVAG News and on our web site concerning prices, times, and registration. For those of you not aware, HMGS-East will be hosting a new convention this November around the same time as our NOVAGCON's were in years past. It goes by the name "FALL-IN" and should be on par with the other fine events run by this organization. If you are looking for that perfect self-Xmas present, or just looking for flea-market bargains, I recommend it. Should be some good British Colonial gaming there as that's the theme and the convention organizer's specialty. See you there!
