Letter from the President

Events

By John McConnell, President

And now begins the time of year (now through the end of Summer) when conventions start to occur. The first one which many of you are very familiar is HMGS-East's Cold Wars which is held annually in Lancaster, Pennsylvania If you haven't been to either it or HISTORICON (in July) you should go and check it out. Many of the NOVAG faithful will be there showing the colors (or at least wearing their NOVAG shirts!)

NOVAG has its own one-day convention, Gamecon 10, on SATURDAY, April 19th at the Westpark Hotel in Tyson's Comer, Virginia. I know you'll all have paid your taxes by then, so there's no excuse for not being there and having some money to spend! Look elsewhere in this issue, or at our website, for game sponsorship, registration, and flea market/vendor information. All NOVAG members should attend if they can!

As the Summer draws nearer, more and more conventions will be popping up, with many of them inside driving distance from the DC area. Remember, if you get listed in the directory at another convention for running a NOVAG-sponsored gaming event, NOVAG will reimburse you for the price of your admission fee! No other club does that from what I understand.

An early reminder: NOVAG will be hosting a GAMEDAY at the Game Parlor in Chantilly,VA on Saturday, May 31st. The owner, Rob Weigend, has generously allowed us the use of his ENTIRE gaming area (12 large gaming surfaces!) exclusively for NOVAG's use that day. I will be needing people to volunteer to run games, so let me know if you'd like to. Remember, it always looks better to volunteer rather than be drafted! There will be NO ADMISSION FEE for this event! I expect a big turnout for this one, guys.

My final note expresses the disappointment I felt when I learned that there would be no article on the Soviet Mechanical Chicken Corps this month. Our editor passed on the information that some people actually wrote articles for the News this time, which postponed my article's appearance yet again. Dam!

Thanks for reading, and I'll see you at the next NOVAG event.
