The present NOVAG BoD, which we have noticed is working most vigorously upon the membership’s behalf, has come up with the idea of having a NOVAG ROOM for games at the HMGS East conventions. To be frank with you, we were somewhat disturbed the first time the HAWKS (the Hawks are a group who game just north east of Baltimore) did that at a Con. Then, because of their special HAWK ROOM, I got to know the HAWKS. Splendid folks. We went up and attended their Con this past autumn. “That’s all very fine and good,” you say. “Gives publicity,” you say. “So what?” you say. Permit me to give you Three Good Reasons—for some reason, there always seem to be three reasons every time reasons are given—why there is an advantage in having our games put on in a NOVAG ROOM.
2) The very existence of a NOVAG ROOM gives us free publicity, and attracts individuals in our area who did not know how wonderful we are, to come and join us. 3) The more people who are members of NOVAG, the less each of us individually has to pay for various club expenses. Renting space for our Conventions is cheaper to divide among a larger number of gamers. Special postal rates only apply to larger mailings. The director of Cold Wars has already agreed to this, but the membership was obviously not alerted in time. You are now being notified! We will endeavor to set up the same arrangement for Historicon. When you are registering to host a game at Historicon, kindly let them know that you wish to have it in the NOVAG ROOM. Then let us know personally, since we’ve been talked into volunteering to organize the timing and such for the NOVAG ROOM. It would be rather nice if we could gain the three benefits described above without really doing anything special to gain them. This is something for nothing. Any questions? Ask any BoD member, or us-—Bob & Cleo.
