Thanks All Around

By Doshu Tokeshi

Howdee and hello again. I bring many new things from the promised lwd (Cold Wars '93) for Dave and I paid homage to the historical wargaming gods by sprinkling a powder containing a Minifig Fusilier and an Old Glory Austrian mounted officer. I hope the gods were appeased.

Firsty, I would like to thank the guys from PENDRAGON (1549 Marview Dr. Westlake. OH 44145 Catalog $3) who so kindly showed me all the new products they had at Cold Wars '93 amidst the buying frenzy. Among the new items am the WARGAMES FOUNDRY 20MM tank crews, each approximately containing I full, 2 half, and 2 quarter figures for about $2 per pack. I have in front of me a sample called WWE22 (German tank crew in berets), excellent castings for 1938 - 1941 (early) and I put a couple in my Fujimi 38t to check the results, just great. I also have the following packets; WWE27 (German tank crew in side caps), very well animated; WWE23 (German tank crew in field caps). includes a really cool figure designed to sit on a tank with a schmwisser testing on his knee; WVIE26 (German halftrack personnel seated), a fantastic set of figures and all wearing '36 pattern uniforms with jackboots. 5 figures in 4 poses and one of which is simply great: a disillusioned elder with his head resting on his left hand and a totally disgruntled look. All in all, these figures are definitely worth it and am an excellent addition to any of your tank and armor kits.

Now, thanks go the guys from RANK AND FILE (140 Indiana ave., Dayton, OH 45410) which has an excellent mail order service , forwarding me samples of their upcoming Crimean range. I have now in front of me 3 Russians in greatcoat with forage caps. One is a nice casting of probably an officer or an ensign advancing with drawn sword, another is an enlisted firing with excellent detailing of the equivalent and his rifle, and another Russian at the charge. Although I find this pose a bit awkward and stiff. I was also given 2 French or Sardinian figures and I guess you could paint them any way. The ensign officer is similar to the Franco-Prussian era French ensign but in greatcoat. a nice, little casting. They have also informed me of their supplements to their rule set, in the age of Bismark & Napoleon III for the Crimea and Prusse- Danish war of 1864. Also a line of Danes will be released to fill in that period.

QUALITY CASTINGS (FOB 11714, Alexandria, VA 22312). has released a complete line of German SS in 15mm and they are fantastic! I picked up their #4201 Waffen SS platoon in camo smocks for $12.25 and its an excellent deal. The figures are well detailed and now I can repaint all of my Wehrmacht which are painted as SS, back to the Wehrmacht - again, a big Homer Simpson, DOH!

Once again I would like to plug for my good friend. Steven Philips, who out of AZ, distributes the EAGLE AND BICORNE (4761 N Bear Canyon, Tucson, AZ 85749 $3 for catalog and sample (or $1 per extra samples) of 25MM Napoleonics, ACW, 100 Year War. and SYW. The BICORNE line covers the Napoleonic and ACW era with figures well detailed and stature wise that fit in well with the old HINCHCLIFFE fine and the MIRLETON line of figures. Bicorne has figures for both early and late Napoleanics for the British, French, and Russians. The EAGLE line has a Napolenic, 100 Year War, and a very comprehensive and well done SYW line. A sample I have is PSYW3A EAGLE Prussian Grenadier firing, a well detailed casting with crisp details and you can even make out the seal and the grenades on his shot pouch. I also have the EAGLE B8 Highlander. flank company with leveled musket and one of the nicest highlanders I've seen, it is simply a beautiful casting.
