Gamecon 2

Convention Recap

By David Luff

Our one day "GameCon 2" was held as the WestPark Hotel on Saturday, 20 Feb. I would like to thank Dan Willey, Bobby and Lea Harrison (its the thought that counts) and June, my wife, on helping to setup the night before and during the event. I would like to thank Bobby Harrison, Rick Schroder, Doshu Tokeshi, and Dan Willey (for taking 1/2 day off from work) for helping out at the registration desk.

Events included Star fleet Battles, Plains Wars with great looking terrain, WWll microarmour by Joerge Duenzen, with the Russians T-34/85s racing through a German blocking force of Panthers, some DBA and Hords of the Things gaming, Warhammer 40,000K by Games Workshop representative David Fink (Welcome back GW), and a Napoleon's Battles game with the British advancing (advancing?) against their French host using 6MM Adler figures (Sorry about giving those French too many guns, Marc) and age of sail

If I did not mention you or your event, write me for any corrections. We recruited 7 new members which brings our membership to 100. Venders who attended were Viking Forge. Comic Carnival (in Sterling), Wargamers, and many individuals. Total attendance was 109 gamers, not too bad and best was dud the club made about $40 dollars.

Last note was that an error was made in scheduling this event on the date of another convention, "Shevacon". It was not our intention to run against this or any other local conventions and it turned out too late to change our event date when we found Out. We hope that we did not adversely effected this event and to better guard against this in the future.
