Blue Byte Software and game developer KAiNAi have signed a long-term co-operative agreement. Under the agreement, Blue Byte will acquire exclusive rights to a remarkable new 3D-engine "Myrun", developed by KAiNAi. In the fourth quarter 1999, Blue Byte will publish "Grimh", an exciting new concept in game entertainment which will be developed using the power of this new engine.

Erik Simon, Head of Development for Blue Byte in Mülheim, describes the features of the KAiNAi engine: "The 'Myrun' 3D-engine is capable of adapting to different computer configurations by smoothly varying the accuracy of detail in 3D-objects. In this way, the running speed on a P233 and a P400 are nearly identical, only the detail accuracy differs. This allows an unprecedented parallel level of playing experience on both computer configurations."

"Within the framework of this long-term joint venture, Blue Byte will publish three KAiNAi titles", according to Thomas Hertzler, Blue Byte's CEO. "I am delighted that we have the exclusive rights to KAiNAi's 3D-technology. This will enable us to continue to publish games with original ideas and also state-of-the-art technology. Our studios in Mülheim as well as "Murder of Crows" in Texas will develop products based on 'Myrun'."

KAiNAi's president, Michael Strelecki, explains his choice of Blue Byte as partner: "KAiNAi was founded in 1996 to develop games which do not merely plagiarize successful titles. We are pursuing fresh and innovative directions in game design. Our advanced technology and the structure of our company allow us an unbridled pursuit of our ideas, and Blue Byte is open to extraordinary ideas and ready to accompany us in this direction." Categorizing "Grimh" into a traditional genre is difficult for KAiNAi. "Grimh" contains action and strategy elements, but combined in a unique way.
