Miniature Figure Collectors of America

56th Exhibit and Mart

Press Release

The following press release was sent to MagWeb. I attended this show two years ago--it was quite well done, and easy in and out. The artwork and craftsmanship is astounding on the dioramas and large-scale figures.--RL

The Miniature Figure Collectors of America announce their fifty sixth exhibit and mart at Valley Forge Convention Center in Valley Forge, PA on Friday and Saturday May 16 and 17, 1997.

The MFCA is dedicated to the hobby of miniature figures, accurate reproductions of the famous and ordinary people of history, literature and the imagination in metal or plastic in a small scale. The figures are arranged as singles, in groups and into boxed dioramas.

This will be our ninth year at this excellent venue with plenty of parking, air conditioned facilities, spacious exhibit and commercial areas and two hotels on the site. The area is located near the large shopping and tourist complex of King of Prussia.

There are two hotels on the site both under the Sheraton chain. There are also many hotels and motels in the area. Early reservations are advised because the area is popular at that time for college graduations.

A highlight of the show is the exhibition of miniature figures and models from a wide range of historical periods, military and civilian and the imagination arranged as single figures and in groups and scenes. To encourage wide participation from miniature figure artists and collectors from all over the world, a competition is held and medals awarded to the outstanding exhibits. This is the home of the MFCA Grand Master. This year we will have a seminar on Saturday by Jim Johnston of Fort Duquesne Miniatures on converting large scale figures. Jim is noted for his work in this field. We hope to have a hospitality room hour on Friday night to allow collectors to meet and converse about the hobby.

There will be an ample commercial area with many vendors, featuring the sale of old and new toy soldiers, connoisseur figures both painted and unpainted, books and prints and everything the hobbyist could wish. Admission for both days will be $7.00. Children under 12 will be admitted for free.

Location Valley Forge Conventions Center near the intersection of The Pennsylvania Turnpike and Route 76 West the Schuykill Expressway.

Hours will be Friday noon to 6 PM Saturday 9:00 to 4:00 PM awards announced at 4:00 PM For more information call DENIS LEVY: 609 875 5271.
