Lindroos Relieved as Academy Chair

Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts & Design

by Russ Lockwood

We received the following:

Nicole Lindroos was released from her duties as Chair of the Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts & Design Monday. GAMA President Don Perrin released a statement to the Academy mailing list informing members of the change.

The move is related to the ongoing discussions with the Origins Awards Task Force headed by Matt Forbeck. The nature of the debate has left the future of the Academy in question.

"There has been discussion within the taskforce mailing list as to the function of the Academy," Perrin wrote in his statement. "There is even a possibility that the Academy may not exist after the taskforce recommendations."

Perrin felt that, given the uncertainty of the Academy's future, it would be wrong to keep someone in the role of Academy Chair.

"I don't want someone left 'holding the bag' [if the Academy is dissolved]," Perrin wrote. "Nicole Lindroos has done excellent service to GAMA and the Academy, and I do not wish any future actions of I or the Board of Directors tarnishing that."

The board has no plans to fill the vacancy at the moment. Until the fate of the Academy is decided, the Chair will remain open.

Not following the discussion, post-Origins fall-out of some sort?--RL
