Battle of New Orleans

Songs About Battles

by Chris Johnson

We ran a news item about songs concerning battles...

    Meat Loaf vs. The Alamo

...and asked for others. Chris Johnson responded:

The only modern one I can think of is Battle of New Orleans (In 1814 we took a little trip, along with Colonel Jackson down the mighty Mississip...).

There were a number of them during the Middle Ages and Renaissance, such as "Grenada" and something sung by Jim Nabors on a Gomer Pyle episode, which went something like, "Forward, forward, for'd against the foe! Forward, forward, the lily banners go! Sons of gold and danger, will you serve a stranger, and to hell with Burgundy!"

Any others? Remember, it has to be a specific battle.
