We received the following from Robert A. Mosher: I noticed on one of the Pearl Harbor documentaries just broadcast that Larry Bond helped stage such a game at the Naval History Museum in Washington DC (US had earlier warning based on radar detection of Japanese aircraft) and the US Fleet sortied seeking to rendezvous with the carriers only to be struck in the open sea by Japanese aircraft. Japanese lost 75 aircraft, the US lost 3 battleships and other ships damaged. The US Navy Admiral leading the US team took serious objection to the result claiming that too many Japanese torpedo bombers got through (comparing it specifically to the US aircraft lost at Midway – a specious argument in my view that does not take into account the many key differences in the two situations).
