CAMPAIGN GAME CONCEPT:
Ongoing strategic-game with battles evolving as soon as they develop. (Minis games run by GM's) Political-game is between the Texan Rival Factions (with needs for geographical, military, and political power.) Wargame is between Texans and Santa Anna, as Texans prepare to fight a military campaign against the approaching Mexican Army under Santa Anna Special Awards for those who meet their own "Victory Conditions."
TEXANS
"PLAYER-ROLES" of Bowie, Travis and Crockett, Ben Milam and more etc. Texian Regions have a diverse make-up of team members with (American settlers, European Immigrants, Irish Catholics, Land Owners, Tejanos, freed slaves, The New Orleans Grays, the Tennesseeans (Crockett), and US Army soldiers (under Fannin) affected by the "Mexican Army threat" and modified by recruiting, political, geographical agricultural, economic and "family-safety" needs [read: victory conditions goals] of each local leader. Some may decide to die in the Alamo (Bowie) or Goliad (Fannin) Forts. Some may opt to fall back to San Jacinto and band together despite loosing their land and wealth to the advancing Mexican Army.
TEXAN Political Agenda's include: Preservation of holdings and estate! Gain Military Rank and Prestige! Gain Political influence and Wealth!! and DIE A "MARTYR FOR TEXAS LIBERTY!!"
Texan Strategies include: Hold at San Antonio/Alamo Defenses! Hold Goliad! Trade territory for time (Retreat to San Jacinto), Seek Alliance with Cherokee against Mexico and US Pres. Jackson. Seek Alliance with Tejano land owners & protect their properties! Ensure Protection from Comanche Raids! (by treaty or armed force) Employ Texan "Naval Privateers" out of Corpus & Galveston etc. Invade Mexico and take Montamoros!
SANTA ANNA and the MEXICANS
MAJOR MEXICAN COMMANDS (12-18 Gamers) OB Historical Mexican numbers affected by the units tasked to guard the MSR; weather and straggling based on speed of march. Each independent column/team and Commander has surprises and problems to deal with based on historical examples. Since Santa Anna is also Presidente, he's got petty Political issues to deal with as well as conflicting agendas amongst his Generals, and the backlash of his handling of the Texans. (Which is required under his victory conditions, but not by his players).
