We received the following press release.--RL Simulation Saturday will be next weekend on the 13th of October. What games will be played I can't say but, N gauge WWII and/ or Mexican War would be probable. Spring Maneuvers will be undergoing some changes due to the moving of Jacob Kovel out of the area and the rise in the price for the Conference Center at the post of Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Silver Eagle, owned by Jacob Kovel has gone to greener pastures and we wish him well. However, it reduces the vendors coming to Spring Maneuvers considerably since no out of the area vendors have an interest in coming to a convention with under 200 attendees. This, coupled with the dramatic increase in the rental price of the usual hall has caused us to look at several alternatives. Spring Maneuvers has in essence always been a two man show. True, members of the living history assn. have always manned the desks and kitchens esspecially Vicki Thomas and Kristy Allie who ARE the food service for the convention. Repeatedly we havebeen bombarded with suggestions of grandeur.... Large Attendance, Tons of vendors, Big Gaming Club, " We would not be evil but, be good and beautiful, all would worship us and dispair. We pass the test.' This area has never gone beyond 200 at a convention and there is no reason that will change. Vendors want to make money and you don't do that at a small gathering such as ours. Gaming clubs, by nature, are exclusive, something that I have small tollerance for. Therefore, This will remain a two man operation and as such cannot get larger. Spring Maneuvers will change location to a smaller hall. The Hunt Lodge, also at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas will be be the New venue for Spring Maneuvers in 2002. The Hunt Lodge is smaller than the area that we are use to in the Conference Center but, will allow us to save money and pass a savings on to the attendees. Vendors tables will be LIMITED TO TEN (10). They will be on a first come, first served basis and PREPAID. $20.00 each, includes one weekend admission per table. Games Masters will have to schedule their games with a specific time and MUST run at that time. Very Limited space and fewer tables are available. Late entry may mean that you play in other's games rather than your own. Admission will be $7.00 each for everyone. No children free, No spouses free. No Visitors ie. " I just want to look around." All admissions will be for the weekend, NO single day reduced price. This takes care of some criticism of disinterested children ruining games by dropping out early. It also allows for an easier accounting at the gate. More information will be available at Simulation Saturday on the 13th. More to come, Tom
