We received the following press release--RL Campaign 2K –"JodieCon": 4 – 6 AUGUST 2000
Campaign and Historical Conference focusing on the period after Alexander the Great’s death, 323 BC in Babylon. The event will include military history presentations, video seminars, and wargaming from Friday to Sunday. "Successors" will be a strategic campaign, with tactical combat resolution using 25mm Old Glory Miniatures and Phil Viverito’s Classical Hack found at http://www.angelfire.com/biz/lynne99/index.html HISTORICAL SITUATION: Alexander the Great died on June 10, 323 BC in Babylon saying, "I foresee great contests at my funeral games." Perdiccas, recently promoted to second-in-command after Hephaestion’s death, was with him in his final moments and asked, "But to whom, Alexander, shall the Empire go?" To which he replied, "To the strongest." At least this is what Perdiccas claims he said! This campaign of the Diadochoi’s great funeral games will determine just who is "the strongest." Our CAMPAIGN is based on the breakup and division of Alexander the Great's Macedonian Empire among his generals and lieutenants. At the start of the campaign, there are seven major factions of generals united under one leader, known as the Hegemon. Underneath the Hegemon are several independent generals (Strategos) who begin initially in allegiance but this may change....
