Memories of This Day...
(composed by a Chindit)

Poem

by Russ Lockwood

We received the following request for information--RL

On the 14th of April in the year of '44
A famous Scottish Regiment went marching to the foe
And early in the morning as they were standing to
They met and fought the enemy on the road to Pynlabou
And when the battles over, and the roll call begun
Many sacrificed their glory for their true friends at home
Now all you faithful workers when the boys come home from here,
give them lots of Johnnie Walker and barrels of Youngers beer
For if anyone deserves it more, I'll leave that just to you
It's the boys who beat the enemy'on the road to Pynlabou.

I would be pleased to hear or to recieve any information regarding this poem written I believe by comrades of my fathers who served with him on this day 14.4.1944.

111 Infantry Brigade Cameronian Scottish Rifles.
