GAMA 2000

Convention Report

We received the following press release--RL

GAMA SHOW FINAL TALLIES

Dear GAMA Board, Exhibitors & Media;

Here are the final numbers for the Show. They're somewhat different than the approximate numbers announced during GAMA Show 2000. Our working count at the show included entries such as replacements for lost badges, forms filled out which had already been entered as pre-reg, and the like. Wendy worked hard after the show to get us these accurate counts. I've promised her that we'll have a system server next year, so the database will be updated automatically & she won't have so much extra work. Wendy and her crew did a great job during the first year GAMA ran its own registration system.

Distributors Attended - 43 Companies
Retailers Attended - 273 Companies
Total Buyers Attended - 312 Companies
Total number of badges - 1138 people

All these numbers set new records for the GAMA Show. With this support for the Show and the most active volunteer set I can remember, GAMA has a tremendous impetus to move forward in all areas- communications to members and the Industry at large, new & enhanced member services, an annual industry survey (launching soon), and work toward a Public Relations plan to promote game play to the general public as a positive, social pursuit.

GAMA's new Retail Division Chairman, D.P. "Vern" Vernazzarro, has outlined an ambitious set of projects for his division. You can find those on the Delphi Industry Forum, which Vern created & moderates- contact Vern at zone@datasys.net.

GAMA's newly formed Bylaws committee, Chaired by long-time volunteer & GAMA Secretary Brad McWilliams, has begun working on proposed modifications to bring to the voting members at Origins in July. Contact Brad at lucern@mindspring.com.

Much more is happening- watch GAMA move in the right direction, join if you see the merit, get actively involved if you have the time and motive.

Thanks to everyone who made the Show such a success. We're already working on making next show even more valuable to Retailers, whose attendance is vital for exhibiting companies.

Mark Simmons, GAMA Executive Director
