Campaign 1776

HPS Computer Game

by Russ Lockwood

Designer John Tiller handed me a copy of Campaign 1776 hot off the CD-ROM press. This historical simulation and computer game tackles just about every battle in the American Revolution.

As with other HPS games designed by John Tiller, there is a dazzling array of options available to increase fog of war, complexity, and difficulty. Sounds and music are included, and like all good games, may be turned off as well.

This is a traditional "hex" computer game, with a view from either overhead akin to a boardgame, or in the better looking pseudo-three dimensional view. As you would expect, research is quite intensive, and the interface allows a wide variety of options.

I expect another excellent game--I've played Tiller's Panzer Campaigns: Smolensk '41 and can say the previous ones are excellent and challenging wargames. I expect the same quality and committment to support as previous titles.

$40. Direct from HPS.
