We received the following press release--RL Ricardo Garijo, a 20-year veteran of graphic design and public relations work, studied at the "Vicente Seritti Art School" in Tandil, Argentina, and then afterwards in "La Plata University of Art" in the 1970s. He draws a wide variety of topics as comics as well as realistic styles, including military history, science fiction, and the American space program. For several years, he drew two diary science fiction comic strips for two newspapers: "La Capital" (from Mar del Plata) and "La Razón" (from Buenos Aires). From 1983-1989, he worked with the Thompson Publishing Company from Scotland, producing science fiction art, and then in 1990 switched to drawing war stories--which he continues to do today. In addition, he produced two erotic books for the publisher "La Cúpula" (Barcelona, Spain) in 1991-2, and then sold illustrations to Clipper (Peoria, Illinois). The American Embassy invited him to present an exhibition of his artwork about the US space program in Mar del Plata in 1986. In 1997, Garijo published a magazine, "Gurbos", dedicated to comics for adults (war, action, thrillers, mystery, humor). In 1999, he began teaching how to draw comics in five cities of his state, and this experience was published in a long magazine article entitled "Historietas Bonaerenses" by the Buenos Aires State Government. This program is continuing into 2000, with the artwork produced by Garijo and several pupils from many cities.
