Command at Sea

No Sailor but a Fool has been published. The next product(s) to be released will be a double: Biplanes & Battleships and the new WW I rules to support it, Fear God and Dreadnaught.

Written by the noted game designer Dave Arneson, Biplanes & Battleships will provide scenarios based on Hector C. Bywater's 1929 book "The Great Pacific War," set in 1933. The Data Annexes will support the 1920-1939 period, including several hypothetical classes.

Since the ships of Bywater's book still used WW I technology, the game will include WW I rules, titled Fear God and Dreadnaught (a quote from Admiral Jackie Fisher). An extension of the existing CaS rules, they will cover gunnery, ship maneuvering, and aircraft rules for the period, as well as airships.

The 1914-1918 period will be covered later with a supplement tentatively titled "High Seas Fleet." Scheduled for release in 1998, it will cover all the major battles of WW I and the Data Annexes will provide data for the ships and aircraft of the Great War.

Harpoon 4

Harpoon 4 is out and available. It includes over 250 ships, 150 aircraft, expanded country coverage, and an entirely revised (and improved) rules booklet. Look on Harpoon 4 Rules Summary for a detailed description of the rules.

Several supplements for Harpoon 4 are in preparation, including Harpoon Naval Review, by Dave Schueler, and Sea of Dragons, by Dr. Adrian Davis.

The Painter's Guide to WW II Naval Camouflage

The success of The Painter's Guide to WW II Naval Camouflage has prompted Patrick Hreachmack to start work on a follow-on volume. It will provide more information and drawings of WW II naval vessels, and if room and data allow, will also have information on WW I. Anyone with information on naval color schemes or comments on the Painter's Guide should contact Pat through Clash of Arms.
