Lt. Ian H. Bohne writes that there are actually two versions of the launcher, the Mk8 and the later (Mar 45), trainable Mk5O, shown on the Form 10.
Lt Bohne cites Allied Coastal Forces of WW II in pointing out that these jet launchers were at least considered for use in attacking barges and other naval targets. |
Also, since the Mk8 is fixed, not trainable, to fire at any target, it must spend the last half of the previous Tactical Turn, and must end the turn, facing directly at the planned target.
The Mk8 and Mk50 rocket launchers may also fire at naval targets using the standard chances to hit for local control (5/3/2/1).
There are two rockets for the Mk50, the 5,000 yard HE, and 11,000 yard SAP round. The firing data for the Mk8/50 five-inch rocket launchers against naval targets is shown on the cable below. This replaces the table on the Form 10. |
The Ground Combat Strength remains 2 points per mount.
Thanks to Lt. Bohne for his information.
