Command at Sea

Ed Kettler's Referee Guide is available for $9.95. It is a detailed handbook for running a double-blind naval game, with modules on preparing for a game, communications, and spotting reports, along with detailed techniques, forms and procedures.

The second edition of the rules booklet is also out, with errata folded in, an improved gunnery system, and several rules points clarified. It is unbound and punched for a threering binder.

Supermarina, by John Gresham and Mike Markowitz, is more than half done. The scenario booklet will be 64 pages long, with another booklet with 80 pages of data on ships, aircraft, and their systems. The supplement will include several major surface battles, as well as air attacks like Taranto, submarine actions, and special warfare attacks.

After Supermarina Clash of Arms will release a smaller supplement titled No Sailor but a Fool by Terry Sofian. It will provide rules for attacking coastal fortifications. The rules are in playtest.

After that, in time for the summer conventions, CoA will release Biplanes and Battleships, a boxed game written by David Arneson, a noted game designer and longtime naval gamer.

Development has started on a WW I version of CaS. It will be some time before we kno"en it will be released.

Miniatures

Clash of Arms will publish a WWII ship painting guide next year. Authored by Pat Hreachmack, a noted miniatures modeler, it will be a general guide providing specific guidance to ship modelers on camouflage schemes for all major billigerents, specific paint matches, techniques, and resources.

A lot of information about ship camouflage is out of print, has limited availability, or is included in large, expensive books. The Painter's Guide will distill and condense that information into a better organized less expensive form.

It will be out for Origins '96.
